A deepening storm system over the Central Plains will track
northeastward into the Upper Great Lakes this afternoon, then on
into northern Quebec tonight and Wednesday. This system will spread
snow across the region, with the precipitation then mixing with
and changing to rain later this afternoon and evening as warmer
air overspreads the area. During the changeover a period of sleet
and freezing rain will be possible, mainly from the Southern Tier
northeastward across the Finger Lakes and North Country. Strong
winds will also accompany the approach and passage of this system
through tonight, with calmer and drier weather then returning
during Wednesday.
