Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
1059 AM EST Mon Feb 16 2026

Past 24 hour precipitation...
Total rainfall ranged from zero to 0.25 inch across southwest
Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, and between 0.20 and 0.40 inch in
northern West Virginia.

Forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours...
A tenth of an inch or less of rain is expected north of Pittsburgh
Tuesday night.

River trends...
Snowmelt and additional light rain later this week will lead to many
area rivers rising 1 to 3 feet by Thursday, although eastern Ohio
tributaries will remain a bit more steady.

River ice continues to affect readings at several gauges, particularly
along the Allegheny. Warming temperatures through Wednesday should
lead to some in-place ice rot, although increasing precipitation
potential by late week could lead to some ice movement and potential
risk of jamming.
