...MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES AND LIGHT SNOW POSSIBLE BY LATE
WEEK...

A SERIES OF WEATHER SYSTEMS WILL AFFECT SOUTHEAST WYOMING AND THE
WESTERN NEBRASKA PANHANDLE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. SHOWERS AND
ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THIS TIME ALONG WITH
A GRADUAL COOLING TREND. A STRONG COLD FRONT WILL DIVE SOUTH INTO
THE CENTRAL ROCKIES ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON. ABUNDANT MOISTURE AND
PERSISTENT UPSLOPE FLOW WILL GIVE WAY TO THICK CLOUD COVER WHICH
MAY RESULT IN DAYTIME HIGHS ONLY IN THE MID 40S...SOME 40 DEGREES
COOLER THAN THOSE SEEN ON MONDAY. WITH TEMPERATURES LIKELY TO FALL
THROUGH THE DAY...THIS WILL SET THE STAGE FOR TEMPERATURES AROUND
FREEZING FOR MANY AREAS BY SUNRISE FRIDAY.

IN ADDITION TO THE MUCH COLDER AIR...WIDESPREAD PRECIPITATION IS
POSSIBLE. RAIN MAY MIX WITH SNOW OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND PORTIONS
OF THE HIGH PLAINS ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE CHANGING ENTIRELY
TO SNOW ON THURSDAY NIGHT AND EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. MANY QUESTIONS
REMAIN AS TO THE INTENSITY AND DURATION OF THE SNOW...BUT
CONFIDENCE IS INCREASING THAT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5000 FEET COULD SEE
MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF WET SNOW. THE FAST MOVEMENT OF THE STORM
SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO PRECLUDE A MORE SIGNIFICANT WINTER
STORM...BUT TRAVEL COULD BE HAZARDOUS ON THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY
IN SOME AREAS. FARMERS AND RANCHERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR
UNUSUALLY COLD WEATHER FOR THIS EARLY IN THE SEASON. PLEASE STAY
TUNED FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND FORECASTS REGARDING THIS RAPID
CHANGE IN WEATHER CONDITIONS.
