OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
213 PM CST Thu Jan 16 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Breezy west to northwest winds this afternoon will briefly ease
this evening into early tonight as high pressure of 30.2 inches
moves into the southern Ohio River Valley from the west. Winds
will then quickly increase out of the south to southwest later
tonight into Friday as the high departs and low pressure of 29.2
inches travels from southern Manitoba into southwest Ontario. Gale
force gusts to 40 knots are expected tomorrow.

The low to the north will drag a cold front through Friday
evening, with winds becoming northwest behind the front while
likely dropping below gale force. Breezy northwest to west winds
will then continue through the first part of next week and will
combine with a much colder airmass for a period of freezing spray.
Heavy freezing spray is mostly likely across the eastern two-
thirds of the lake early Sunday into early Wednesday.
