.SHORT TERM...(This Evening Through Friday Night)

Water vapor shows nearly zonal flow over the northern plains with
upper low over CA. Notable jet energy/moisture streaming from the
desert SW through the cntrl Rockies. At the sfc...ridge covers the
cntrl Dakotas.

Southeast winds expected to increase tonight on the backside of
sfc ridge, which will allow wind chill values to fall to -15 to
-30 across far nwrn SD. Will issue a wind chill advisory for
Harding, Perkins, and Ziebach counties. A robust wave embedded in
the aforementioned jet stream will bring some light snow to
southern SD, with an inch or two possible towards the Neb border.
Little or no snow expected north of I-90.

On Friday, warmer air will usher into the cwfa behind the
departing wave. Temps expected to rise to near and even slightly
above freezing over parts of northeast WY, southwest SD, and the

.LONG TERM...(Saturday Through Thursday)

Temperatures will continue to warm gradually as arctic air mass
shifts east, aided by southwesterly low-level winds. Dry weather
is also expected through the middle of next week. The exception, a
low pressure system will move across the central plains early next
week, with long term models clipping south central South Dakota
with some light snow late Sunday night into Monday. Little
accumulation is expected.


.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS Through 06Z Friday Night)

VFR conditions are expected through Friday morning most places
outside of SW through scentral SD. MVFR to local IFR ceilings and
visibility will be possible in light snow there, mainly before
12Z Friday.
