...SNOW EXPECTED MONDAY INTO EARLY TUESDAY...
...RECORD COLD WEATHER ARRIVES FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK...

A STORM SYSTEM TRACKING ACROSS THE SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES IS
EXPECTED TO INITIALLY BRING RAIN TO THE AREA TODAY AND TONIGHT.
HOWEVER...COLD AIR WILL WORK INTO THE REGION FROM NORTHWEST TO
SOUTHEAST LATE TONIGHT AND THROUGH MONDAY...GRADUALLY CHANGING THE
RAIN OVER TO SNOW. IT APPEARS THAT MUCH OF THE AREA WILL STAY
MAINLY RAIN THROUGH DAYBREAK MONDAY. THE BEST CHANCES FOR LIGHT
SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE IN THE BLUEGRASS REGION...AND ON
RIDGETOPS IN SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY...MAINLY ABOVE 2000 FEET.
ELSEWHERE...LITTLE OR NO SNOW ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED.

AS THE EARLY WEEK LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM DEPARTS...THE COLDEST AIR MASS
SO FAR THIS FALL...AND MORE TYPICAL OF JANUARY...WILL INVADE THE
REGION. TEMPERATURES WILL HOLD STEADY OR FALL THROUGH THE DAY ON
MONDAY. THEN...LOW TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY NIGHT ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN
THE TEENS...WITH TEMPERATURES STRUGGLING TO REACH THE MID 20S IN MOST
LOCATIONS ON TUESDAY. TUESDAY NIGHT WILL BE SLIGHTLY COLDER AS HIGH
PRESSURE MOVES OVERHEAD...WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO BOTTOM OUT
AROUND 10 DEGREES IN THE NORMALLY COLDER VALLEY LOCATIONS...AND IN
THE TEENS ELSEWHERE. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO BE AT OR COLDER
THAN RECORD VALUES DURING THIS TIME...OR ROUGHLY 20 TO 30 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO...LOCAL RADIO...AND TELEVISION
MEDIA OVER THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS FOR FURTHER DETAILS AND UPDATES
