Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
940 PM EST Thu Dec 14 2017

Another quiet night as a dry stable airmass remains in place over
the FL Peninsula. RAP40 analysis shows the axis of the H100-H85
ridge over the FL straits interacting with a weakening frontal
boundary over the Deep South to produce a steady W/SW flow acrs
central FL...confirmed by the evng RAOBs and lcl wind profilers.
Position of the ridge axis will maintain a sharp H85-H70 subsidence
inversion over central FL that will keep the airmass capped blo
5KFT. RAOBs show a slight uptick in moisture over the past 24hrs
with PWat values now running btwn 0.50"-0.75"...though much of this
is trapped abv H50 in the form of a thin cirrus deck.

Upstream airmass remains too dry to support any precip overnight...
though H100-H70 mean RH values and sfc dewpoints have recovered
enough to reduce radiational cooling efficiency enough to keep
overnight min temps within about 5F of climo avgs. Coolest temps
will be over the Treasure Coast/Lake-O region once again as clear
skies and H100-H70 mean RH values btwn 30-50pct will produce the
best cooling conditions...min temps in the U40s/L50s. Along and
north of the I-4 Corridor and along the Space Coast, thin cirrus and
H100-H70 RH values btwn 50-60pct will keep min in the L/M50s.

Fcst looks good, no updates necessary this evng.

Gentle to moderate SW breeze will persist overnight as a ridge axis
over the FL Straits interacts with a weak frontal trof over the Deep
South. The offshore component will limit seas to 2FT or less over
most of the lcl Atlc, though ocnl seas up to 3FT will be psbl in the
Gulf Stream. No sig changes.
